Pippi Longstocking, one of children’s favorite book, movie and cartoon character, was born in Stockholm! Built in 1891, Skansen, the museum recreating Swedish life in different ages, is the world’s first open-air museum. 4. WORLD’S LONGEST ART GALLERY

Where is the world’s longest art gallery? Within Stockholm’s subway! You can’t believe it? Then, come and visit Stockholm, you will find out that the majority of the stations are adorned with astonishing mosaics, paintings and sculptures. In 2009 even the staircases in Odenplan metro station were turned into a piece of art: a giant piano keyboard you could play by stepping it!

5. LITTLE EASTER WITCHES

Upon Easter, children traditionally dress up as Easter witches (especially girls), with coloured headscarves, long skirts and red freckles painted on their faces. Then, they go door to door in the neighbourhood and give handicrafts or paintings in return for treats.
