CORONAVIRUS TRAVEL NEWS, WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT IT

HOW IT’S TRANSMITTED?

According to the Center for disease control and prevention The Covid19, or Coronavirus, can be transmitted mainly from person-to-person.

  • Between people who are in close contact with one another (within about 6 feet)
  • Via respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
  • These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.
  • People are thought to be most contagious when they are most symptomatic (the sickest).
  • Some spread might be possible before people show symptoms; there have been reports of this with this new coronavirus, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.

Certainly, keep the distance ( about 1,5 meters) and wash hands often can help you being safe, but this last one must be a regular habit of everyone!

WHY CORONAVIRUS IS NOT AS DANGEROUS AS IT SEEMS

Even if it is spreading everywhere, Covid19 should not being considered as dangerous as they say. More than 80% of the cases are mild, very mild, like having a cold and a bit of flu, which is a bad news just because when things are mild they spread faster, because people don’t realize to have the virus. People with the biggest risk are old and with serious health problem, in this case even a simple flu could compromise their safety. Even if we still don’t have any vacicne against Coronavirus, we shouldn’t be afraid of it as it is demonstrated that it can spread fast, but it is mild for the large majority of the population.

WHY KIDS ARE SAFE FROM CORONAVIRUS

At the very beginning of the outbreak, it seemed like Coronavirus could not infect children. This news is not true anymore, as there are few cases of kids and teens with mild symptoms of the virus. They are all good, no one of them had complications: on 75,000 cases, only 100 are pediatrics. It’s possible that many more kids are infected but don’t get sick enough to seek medical treatment. It’s also possible that some infected children may develop no symptoms at all.

ARE MASKS USEFUL?

Only for people who have already been infected or have been in contact with infected people. The only real useful thing is washing hands often, with soap and/or sanitizers, and don’t put them in your mouth, nose, eyes or ear.

WHERE IS SAFE TO GO

Here you can find a live map of the virus’ spreading. Creepy, isn’t it? If you look better, only China is still seriously affected by the virus, Italy has a spread of cases just in some provinces of the North (already isolated), France and Germany counts 38 and 48 cases and the rest of the world seems to be just a small red point on the map. If we should report the same map to analyze the seasonal flu, the world will be all red at the moment.

CHANGING YOUR FAMILY TRAVEL PLANS

Some companies, tour operators, agencies and also entire States are canceling or limiting the access to the most infected Countries, so if you have booked for one of them, you should keep control the official news from your Country and the one you are willing to visit with your family. Remember that companies don’t have to refund you if you are canceling for a Country that doesn’t have official restrictions, but you can try to change your itinerary with the help of the operators you are using. Cancel a family trip it’s always a pity, so if you don’t feel safe at least change your itinerary and enjoy your family time elsewhere!
