It’s summertime and we all need some good time on the beach, expecially children! Here is my personal list of the best beaches in Puglia for families, don’t miss it!
“Summertime, and the livin’ is easy”, says the song, and so do I! When summer comes, my first thought is always the Mediterranean and its incredible beaches, and which place is better than Italy to come and live the summer dream? One of the best destination is Apulia, named Puglia in italian. This southern region has become more and more famous over the years, thanks to its amazing sea, food, lifestyle and cheap prices.
Puglia beaches are ideal for kids, most of them have quiet sea, low water and incredible shapes of sand. Also, this region has a very ancient history and got influenced by several cultures, expecially from the Norsemen.
It preserved it’s own peculiarities, though, so today it is an incredible mix of architecture, all white painted. Take your swimwear and come with me to discover it!

A JUMP INTO POLIGNANO A MARE
Polignano is probably one of the most famous locations in Puglia, and guess why? A little town overhanging the sea, with beautiful bays and coves, white houses and amazing food. It is ideal for a romantic trip, but also for a family escape! There are a couple of nice beaches for children, like Cala Paura, not exactly sandy but with a stunning natural pool where children can swim and have fun. Another good one is San Vito beach, with a beautiful tower on the sea and shallow and transparent water. When in the city, dont’ forget to eat some good fish sandwich, kids will love it!
The big news here is that Polignano is only 30 minutes away from the stunning Alberobello, UNESCO world Heritage and perfect place for a Tapsy Tour! I can’t wait to show you local tips and tricks!
THE AMAZING CLIFFS OF TORRE DELL’ORSO
Her majesty Torre dell’Orso is definitely one of the best beaches in Puglia for families. It’s huge, well furnished, with an amazing and shallow water. Warning: it can be crowded in August, so it is better not going in that period. With its beautiful cliffs it offer a stunning view, for a great family day on the beach!
PUNTA PROSCIUTTO AND THE NEARBY BEACHES
Prosciutto means ham in Italian, but this beach has nothing to do with swine! It can be considered one of the best beaches in Puglia for families together with the nearby beaches of Punta Lapillo and Porto Cesareo. The sea is sooooo blue! Kids can play safe and you can relax on this sandy and quiet beach, enjoying a drink and the local food cooked on the shore.
BEING IN MALDIVE AT PESCOLUSE
This beach is called the ‘Maldive of Salento’ and they are right, it really seems to be on a tropical island here! Very close to some small urban areas that offer everything you may need, Pescoluse is perfect for children and families who want to enjoy a very relaxing Puglia escape.
