SUMMER IN EUROPE WITH KIDS: ITINERARY AND TIPS

Looking for Trolls in Norway, up to Trollstigen

Let’s start from the top, the deep north of Europe. Norway is such an amazing place to be during summer, with its never-ending days and the perfect temperature to go wondering around with kids. Trollstigen (troll path) it’s a fantastic road, with twists and turns, that leads you up to a mountain.

Why is it a special experience for kids? Well, first of all, before going up, you can have a stop and kids can enjoy one of the best waffles ever! Up to the mountain, kids will see a lot of wild life! Plus, Norway has this sort of ‘law’ that says that you can walk whenever you want in the outdoors: it is called Right to Roam. Visiting the Trollstigen is a perfect match with the fjord area: one of the most beautiful and well-well-snowed is Geiranger, just few kilometers away. The good news is that you can book a Tapsy Tour with me over there! You will come with me looking for the northern lights!

Relaxing in South of France

You can’t say you really know France until you get to the French Riviera! You might think it is a posh place, and in part it is true, but south of France is an amazing discovery experience for the whole family. Lavander fields, fantastic beaches and gorges and a Tapsy Tour in Marseille with me! You can’t ask for more! Places you can’t miss? Aix en Provence, for exemple: it is the very heart of Provence, maybe during summer you will not find the famous lavande fields but you will surely enjoy the real French countryside life. Don’t forget to taste the famous Calissons, a local treat made by almonds. Kids will love them! Looking for some sea-time? Let’s go on adventure, visit the Gorges du Verdon! Narorw and deep, they are not far away from Marseille. If you want to enjoy the gorges with kids, go to lake Sainte Croix: from here you can canoa or pedal boat op to gorges for 2km. A very safe and fun journey for the whole family!

Taking the tan of your life in Sicily

And here we are in the deep south, in beautiful Sicily. One of the most beautiful Italian regions, it is perfect for a roadtrip, also because it is not very well connected by internal railways. So, take your car and go explore! My advice is to choose a specific area, the island is quite big and hot in summer, trying to see it all would be stressful and not useful at all. One of the best places to be is the west part of Sicily, the area that goes from Palermo to Trapani.

In this little piece of land you can find everything you need for a perfect family summer in Europe with kids: amazing sea (and I mean it!), culture, history, landscapes, great food. Palermo is very famous for its Northmen history. When in town, don’t miss the cathedral, the castle and the local market and, most of all, the Pane e Panelle! Bread with fried potatoes and chickpea flour, delicioooous! Trapani means windmills, like a little Holland.

The place is famous for its salt flats, it seems like to be on the moon, go there when the sun goes down! Beaches? Yes, please. San Vito lo Capo is the most famous one, perfect for children. Mondello, just 5 minutes away from Palermo, it’s a little paradise. Want to go wild? Take a ferry and go to Favignana. You will never see a sea like this! Explore it with you kids, rent a bike and go!
